PRF in Clinical Practice:
Course Description:Â
This course provides a practical introduction to Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF) therapy, reviewing the biologic rationale, preparation protocols, and evidence-based clinical benefits. Emphasis is placed on real-world application, including appropriate indications, case selection, and realistic treatment outcomes based on current literature and clinical experience. Designed for clinicians seeking a clear conceptual and clinical foundation, participants will leave with knowledge they can immediately incorporate into daily practice
Objectives:Â
- Define Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF) and explain the biologic rationale for using autologous blood concentrates in regenerative dental therapy.
- Differentiate between PRF types and select appropriate preparation protocols, including tube selection, centrifugation parameters, handling, and timing.
- Identify appropriate clinical indications, limitations, and common technique errors, and determine when PRF use is beneficial versus when it may be of limited value based on current evidence.
- Apply PRF in clinical scenarios by selecting membrane or plug applications and evaluating expected healing and regenerative outcomes.
7:30pm EST
Attendees will earn 1 CE credit
Prof. Dr. Gustavo Fernandes is postgraduate in periodontics, researcher, and academic leader, currently serving as Associate Professor and Assistant Director of Periodontics. Ranked among the institution's most influential researchers, he has more than 20 years of research experience in periodontics, biomaterials, and implant dentistry, over 18 years as a clinician, and 14 years in academia. He has authored more than 220 peer reviewed publications, mentored more than 30 graduate students (MSc and PhD), and serves as a reviewer or board member for numerous journals. His contributions include several clinical and diagnostic innovations (such as MiTT, GF-PeDRA®, GF-PAPro, iMPACT, and GF-MoR complexes), curriculum and program development, and nonprofit scientific initiatives, along with multiple teaching and research awards and international committee appointments.
