Course Overview:

This 2-day clinical program is designed to empower clinicians with the skills and confidence to successfully integrate dental implants into their practice. Participants will receive expert guidance while learning step-by-step protocols for case selection, CBCT interpretation, surgical placement, and strategies to avoid common complications. The course also covers clinical case reviews, along with a comparison of digital and analog restorative workflows. Day 2 includes a live patient surgery, where participants will have the opportunity to place implants and gain hands-on experience through expert mentorship. 

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand case selection and screening criteria 
  • Learn single-tooth implant placement techniques 
  • Interpret CBCT scans for implant planning 
  • Review treatment planning and clinical cases 
  • Perform step-by-step implant placement 
  • Recognize and avoid procedural pitfalls 
  • Understand the restoration process (digital and analog)
  • Review the biological principial of healing and bone regeneration

Live surgeries will be performed by Missouri-licensed dentists in a collaborative, mentorship-driven setting led by expert clinicians. Out-of-state participants, please inquire about licensure.

Attendees may bring their own patient, pending eligibility.
(must have MO dental license to perform live surgery. Out of state dentists are welcome and will assist licensed MO dentist with surgery)

Robert Reti DDS, FACS, FACD, FICD 
Dr. Reti completed his general surgery and Oral & Maxillofacial surgery training at Tufts Medical Center in 2013, a pediatric and adult trauma level 1 hospital in Boston. During this time he was the Division I representative for the Resident Committee of the Academy of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. After completing his residency in 2013 Dr. Reti was selected for an advanced fellowship in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at Mercy Hospital in St. Louis, where he trained with some of the cities most respected facial cosmetic, maxillofacial and occuloplastic surgeons. It was during this time he was able to hone his advanced skills in dental implantology, TMJ disorders, bone grafting, facial trauma, obstructive sleep apnea and facial cosmetic surgery. Dr. Reti is a clinical instructor of Oral and Maxillofacial surgery at ATSU school of dental medicine, clinical instructor of plastic and reconstructive surgery at Washington University school of Medicine and Division Chief of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Mercy South Hospital.

Brandon Prior, DMD
Dr. Prior earned his bachelor’s degree in Biology at Southern Illinois University –  Edwardsville. After college, he went on to complete his specialized Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry degree at Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine. Passionate about helping people experience life-changing dentistry, he has pursued advanced education and training in the areas of cosmetic solutions and dental implants. Dr. Prior has been involved in restoring and planning dental   implant cases from single implants to complex full mouth rehabilitation using the latest technologies.

  • Bone-level implants & anatomy
  • Micro-gap, platform switching, micromovement
  • Why dental implants?
  • Integrating implants into your practice 

Patient Evaluation & Medical Considerations 

  • Implant-specific chief complaints 
  • Intraoral exam & Records 
  • Identifying medical contraindications 

 Radiology, Anatomy & Case Planning

  • Standard of care in diagnostics 
  • CBCT vs. Panoramic imaging 
  • Bone density & ridge width evaluation 
  • Depth, sinus lifts, and implant size selection
  • Guided vs. freehand surgery

AFTERNOON SESSION

Pre-Operative Planning & Surgical Protocols 

  • Pre-op antibiotics 
  • Day-of-surgery workflow
  • Flap vs. tissue punch techniques 
  • implant kits & instrumentation 
  • Placement techniques, abutments, suturing
  • Radiofrequency & staged procedures
  • Post-op care 

Clinical Pearls & Complications 

  • Proper placement techniques 
  • Managing bone loss & thin tissue
  • Crown-to-root ratio & primary stability 
  • Use of implant guides 
  • Spinner issues, failure protocols, infection control
  • Cover screws vs. abutments, implant removal

Hands-On Workshop

  • Surgical kit review 
  • Instrumentation & drilling sequences 
  • Full surgical protocol practice
